Queen Anne is the first new cruise ship from Cunard in 12 years and is scheduled to launch in Southampton on May 1, 2024, and christened in Liverpool on June 3, 2024. Details are gradually being released about the new 3,000-passenger cruise ship, which will bring Cunard's fleet to four for the first time since 1999. Queen Anne's Grand Lobby will have a contemporary metal mural sculpture that changes throughout the day. The design draws on Cunard's Art Deco past and will be a homage to the "Golden Age" of travel. The ship will have 15 restaurants, including the main dining room Britannia Restaurant, which is on all the line's ships -- and the popular Golden Lion pub, which serves bar food.

Spain & Gibraltar from Rome with Hotel Stay – Queen Anne – 23 August 2025

Spain & Gibraltar from Rome with Hotel Stay – Queen Anne – 23 August 2025.  Embarking on the Queen Anne cruise is like stepping into a realm of luxury and elegance. Our journey began in the eternal city of Rome, where history breathes through every corner. After spending two enchanting nights at a charming hotel, we explored the Colosseum, Vatican City, and indulged in authentic Italian cuisine, setting the perfect prelude to our voyage.

Setting Sail: Departure from Rome

Once aboard the majestic Queen Anne, anticipation filled the air as we set sail for our first destination. The ship itself was a marvel, with its grand interiors, exquisite dining options, and a plethora of activities ranging from relaxing spa treatments to lively evening entertainment. As the Italian coastline faded into the horizon, the sea beckoned us towards adventure.

Discovering Spain: Valencia, Barcelona, and Malaga

Our first port of call was Valencia, a city that seamlessly blends futuristic architecture with traditional Spanish charm. We explored the stunning City of Arts and Sciences and savored paella at a local eatery. Next, Barcelona welcomed us with its vibrant energy. Gaudí’s whimsical structures, such as the Sagrada Família and Park Güell, left us in awe. Strolling down Las Ramblas, we indulged in tapas and shopped for souvenirs.

Malaga was our final Spanish destination, where the warm sun and sandy beaches provided the perfect backdrop for relaxation. We visited the Picasso Museum and roamed the Alcazaba fortress, immersing ourselves in the city’s rich history and culture.

The Rock of Gibraltar

Our journey culminated with a visit to Gibraltar, a unique blend of British and Mediterranean influences. Standing atop the iconic Rock, we marveled at the panoramic views stretching across two continents. The friendly Barbary macaques added a playful touch to our adventure.

As we sailed back towards Rome, the memories of new friendships, captivating destinations, and the luxurious comforts of the Queen Anne cruise lingered, reminding us that the world is vast and full of wonders waiting to be explored.

Gibraltar, Red pillar boxes, fish-and-chip shops, and creaky 1970s seaside hotels: Gibraltar – as British writer Laurie Lee once commented – is a piece of Portsmouth sliced off and towed 500 miles south. ‘The Rock’ overstates its Britishness, a bonus for pub-grub and afternoon-tea lovers, but a confusing double-take for modern Brits who thought the days of Lord Nelson memorabilia were long gone.   (more…)
