Stockholm

Stockholm, the capital of Sweden, is a beautiful city built on 14 islands interconnected by bridges. The city is a perfect blend of modernity and tradition. Stockholm is also known for its rich history and architecture, including the Royal Palace, Vasa Museum, and the stunning Stockholm City Hall. The city’s culinary scene is also worth exploring, with an abundance of Michelin-starred restaurants and local cafes. Take a stroll through the cobblestone streets of the Old Town, Gamla Stan, and enjoy the vibrant nightlife that Stockholm has to offer.

Things to do in Stockholm

Hellasgården

Hellasgården

Embrace the Nordic ritual of sweating out your stresses in a sauna, by making the 15-minute bus journey from Slussen in the city centre to Hellasgården, a recreation area inside Nacka nature reserve. Here you’ll find separate male and female saunas, and yes, it is compulsory to strip off completely in both. Outside, there’s a jetty from which you can jump (or for the less brave, gingerly ease yourself) into the waters of Lake Källtorp to cool off.

Tantolunden’s

Tantolunden’s

More than 100 allotments and brightly painted wooden cottages tucked away on Tantolunden’s hillside make this one of the city’s most colourful parks, and one of the city’s most Instagram-friendly places. Think perfectly manicured flower beds and terracotta miniature homes you can cook or nap in. Elsewhere in the park, there’s mini-golf, two outdoor gyms and plenty of benches from which to watch passing boats during summer.

Moderna Museet

Stockholm galleries can be pricey, but the Moderna Museet offers free entry to its major exhibitions that cover modern and contemporary art and rotate seasonally. It’s also home to a bookshop and café with a terrace overlooking the water across towards Östermalm’s lavish façades. You can reach the museum by footbridge from Kungsträdgården or by commuter ferry with your metro card.
