Greenock is just a short drive from Glasgow, the largest city in Scotland and famous for its thriving nightlife. There are numerous world-class museums and galleries to visit along with the stunning Gothic cathedral. Glasgow also boasts the best shopping in Scotland and offers plenty of pubs and diverse restaurants. Greenock grew from a fishing community to become the site of the first dock on the Clyde in 1711. Much of the west end of Greenock retains its impressive Victorian buildings, not least the 245-foot Victoria Tower which remains incomplete.
