Queen Mary. The prospect of traveling onboard Cunard Queen Mary 2, the world's only ocean liner, is thrilling, now more than ever, following the ship's £90-million transformation in 2016. The ship holds a spot in the heart of many types of travelers, but especially those who love history, whether it's maritime history or Gilded Age. The biggest change was in the Kings Court buffet, which features a completely fresh design. The redesign transformed the space from a chaotic feeding frenzy into a calm space for daily grazing.     Colombo Sri Lanka

    Colombo Sri Lanka, is a bustling metropolis with a rich cultural heritage. The city is a melting pot of various cultures and religions, which can be seen in its architecture, food, and people. A must-visit attraction is the Gangaramaya Temple, a Buddhist temple with a museum showcasing various artifacts and statues. For history buffs, the National Museum of Colombo houses a vast collection of ancient artifacts and exhibits. The city also has a vibrant nightlife scene, with an array of bars, clubs, and restaurants offering a variety of cuisines. International flights arrive into an area called Katunayake, between 30 minutes and an hour north of Colombo in day time traffic. Therefore, Colombo itself is not an obvious choice for a first night if you head north to the Cultural Triangle or inland towards Kandy. However, Colombo works for the first night if you are heading south or for the last night if you are on your way home from the south. Due to heavy traffic during peak hours, we would not recommend going through unless you want to stop there.Colombo itself has changed enormously over the years,  returning to something like its former glory as of the 'garden city of Asia'. So whilst that might be overstating the case a little, it is certainly a great place to spend a few days poking about the historic areas, visiting the incredible pettah market, taking one of the superb walking tours on offer or just shopping and eating at some of the many excellent restaurants. The city has some grand historic hotels and beautifully converted houses, which are now boutique hotels: a peaceful oasis' in the busy city. There is a range of larger 5-star style properties in Colombo that we can suggest depending on the nature of your booking. You'll find there is something for everyone and we'd be delighted to suggest some options that might suit you.
