Dubai Sydney Great Barrier Reef & Bali – Celebrity Solstice – 16 October 2025. One of Australia’s most remarkable natural gifts, the Great Barrier Reef is blessed with the breathtaking beauty of the world’s largest coral reef. The reef contains an abundance of marine life and comprises of over 3000 individual reef systems and coral cays and literally hundreds of picturesque tropical islands with some of the worlds most beautiful sun-soaked, golden beaches. Because of its natural beauty, the Great Barrier Reef has become one of the worlds most sought after tourist destinations.
The Great Barrier Reef is one of the seven wonders of the natural world, and pulling away from it, and viewing it from a greater distance, you can understand why. It is larger than the Great Wall of China and the only living thing on earth visible from space. Great Barrier Reef. Queensland is unique amongst the Australian states in that it has a number of genuine coastal capitals. This sense of individuality has made cities like Cairns, Townsville, Rockhampton, Mackay, Bundaberg and Maryborough independent centres which do not rely on Brisbane.
Cairns is a modern, sophisticated city, and is an ideal destination from which to explore the wider Tropical North Queensland region with front door access to World Heritage listed reef, rainforest and outback as well as the unique town of Kuranda experience at it’s doorstep.
Port Douglas. From glamorous Four Mile Beach to the wilderness of Dickson Inlet, picturesque Port Douglas is one of Australia’s great holiday destinations that has become an international holiday mecca – just 70 kilometres north of Cairns. Development is low-rise, low-key and relaxing. It is regarded as the most popular base from which to explore the northern areas of the reef and Daintree rainforest and Cape Tribulation.
Townsville. Located on the north-eastern coast of Australia, Townsville is the unofficial capital of North Queensland and one of the fastest growing holiday destination in Queensland. Situated on Ross Creek and overlooked by the 290m-high Castle Hill, Townsville is a thriving metropolis. Townsville is also encircled by other interesting towns and places to see, such as Charters Towers and Ayr. The closest island to the town is Magnetic Island.
Airlie Beach. While Airlie Beach is one of the most popular entrances to the Whitsunday Islands, the town itself is a wonderful vacation spot all year round. As one of North Queensland’s fastest-growing tourist destinations, the charming town of Airlie Beach and the neighbouring Shute Harbour are known for its reputation as a backpacker haven. With a laid-back yet tourism vibe and a slew of activities, the town has a lot to offer visitors.
