Britannia was named by HM The Queen on March 10, 2015, in a glittering ceremony in Southampton. The Queen last named a P&O Cruises ship more than 20 years ago the 1,800-passenger Oriana -- then the largest ship in the fleet, which ushered in a new era of modern UK cruising. Fast forward 20 years and Britannia, arguably, does the same. The ship (at the time) was by far the biggest in P&O Cruises' fleet, carrying 3,647 passengers and weighing in at 141,000 tons -- 27,000 tons heavier and carrying 547 more passengers than the line's previous biggest ship, Azura. Britannia was also the biggest ship ever built specifically for the UK market, until sister Iona took that title in 2021.

Caribbean from Barbados to Southampton – P&O Britannia – 21 March 2025. Setting sail from the vibrant shores of Barbados, our 14-night cruise on the magnificent P&O Britannia will be an unforgettable journey through the heart of the Caribbean, culminating in the historic port of Southampton. This voyage promised not only relaxation and luxury but also a rich tapestry of cultural experiences and breathtaking landscapes.

Day 1: Departure from Barbados

Our adventure began amidst the lively rhythms of Barbados. After a seamless embarkation, we were greeted by the warm hospitality of the Britannia crew. The ship itself is a marvel of modern design, offering a plethora of amenities, including multiple dining options, a lavish spa, and a theater hosting world-class entertainment.

Caribbean Exploration

As we sailed through the Caribbean, each port offered its own unique charm. From the lush rainforests of Dominica to the stunning beaches of St. Lucia, there was no shortage of natural beauty. In Antigua, we explored the historic Nelson’s Dockyard, while the vibrant streets of St. Kitts invited us to indulge in local delicacies.

Sea days were a perfect blend of relaxation and excitement. The Britannia’s dining venues, such as The Glass House and Sindhu, provided culinary delights ranging from traditional British fare to exotic Asian flavors. The poolside was a sanctuary for sunbathers, while the spa offered rejuvenating treatments.

As we approached Southampton, the end of our cruise was bittersweet. The Britannia had become a home away from home, and the friendships forged with fellow travelers were a testament to the shared joy of discovery.
